One Response to Catholicism & Sexuality: A Roundtable

John McConnell, founder of “Earth Day”, once said, “One of the tragic problems is that mass media does not accent the positive. They make more money when they accent the negative. A TV anchor man told me the easiest way to keep up their ratings was to identify with peoples hate, fear, greed and lust. Turn on the TV and you will see the result.”

The media is not interested in the souls of human beings. That’s not their business. If the media can gain viewer numbers by feeding the desire within those particular viewers to find fault with the Church they have done their job. There is that darkness within mankind that so often wants to rejoice in the fall of another to the extent that it seems to make our own dark conscience look less defiled. The media world knows how to appeal to the basest aspects of the human person.

Wouldn’t it be a wonder to hear reports in the media of all the acts of love and kindness performed during the day!
